Familiar

Privacy Policy

Last updated August 2026

1. Who we are

This policy covers Familiar, operated by Serath LLC ("we," "us"). It explains what we collect, why, and what rights you have over it.

2. What we collect

  • Account info: your email address and a hashed (not plaintext) password.
  • Companion data: your familiar's name, species, and personality settings, your full message history with it, and memory entries extracted from your conversations.
  • Billing status: your subscription tier and status, handled through Stripe — we don't receive or store your card number.
  • Basic technical data: IP address and request metadata, used only for rate-limiting and abuse prevention, not profiling.

3. Who we share it with

Two processors, and no one else:

We don't sell your data, and we don't use your conversations to train models for other users.

4. How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. If we ever shut the service down, you get at least 60 days' notice — see our data & shutdown policy. Deleting your account removes your companion, messages, and memory entries from our production database.

5. Your rights

From your account page you can export your full data (companion settings, messages, memory) as a JSON file, or permanently delete your account, at any time — no support ticket required.

6. Children's privacy

Familiar is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

7. Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, never stored in plain text. We use standard security headers and rate limiting to reduce abuse. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security of information you provide.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. We'll post the updated date at the top of this page.
